The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for preparing excuses for electoral failure long before the polls.
Spokesman of the party, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, said the ADC’s internal disunity and lack of grassroots connection, not external suppression, are to blame for its waning fortunes.
Oladejo stated this on Wednesday in his response to a recent statement from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing Tinubu’s APC of attempting to silence opposition voices ahead of the 2027 elections.
He dismissed the ADC’s claims as “an attention-seeking outburst from a party long forgotten by Nigerians.”
He stated, “Let’s be clear, you can’t silence what the people have already tuned out. The ADC’s accusation is like a mosquito complaining that a lion roars too loudly. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC are too busy reshaping Nigeria’s destiny to be distracted by political spectators who only appear during election seasons.”
According to him, while the ruling party is focused on strengthening its structures, refining its strategies, and consolidating internal unity to deliver good governance, opposition parties such as the ADC are more preoccupied with expelling members from their shrinking ranks than attracting new ones.
Oladejo described as laughable the ADC’s claim that it was under political threat, noting that the party “exists only on newspaper pages and WhatsApp groups.”
“From whom exactly is the ADC under threat?” he queried.
“Nigerians have moved on from empty political vessels. The ADC today has no base, no followers, and no relevance — just a logo and a press release,” he criticised.
He stated further, “You don’t lose elections because your opponents silenced you. You lose because the people no longer believe in you.”
He reiterated that under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the party remains focused on governance and results, not political bickering.
“The only thing being silenced in Nigeria today is failure, confusion, and the politics of bitterness. The ADC should stop hallucinating about persecution and start learning basic political arithmetic.”
He added that if the ADC invested as much effort in party organisation as it does in issuing press statements, perhaps Nigerians might remember it still exists.
Oladejo reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to building a nation of unity, opportunity, and prosperity under President Tinubu.
“We will not be distracted by political comedians seeking attention through cheap drama. As for the ADC, stop crying wolf. The nation has moved on.”
