The authorities of Nigerian Police in Zone 10 has disclosed that no fewer than 177 guns were recovered in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States in the ongoing efforts to stamp out criminal activities in the three states.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Zone 10 of Nigerian Police Headquarters Sokoto, Mr Bashir Musa, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday.
The PPRO disclosed that the recovered guns comprised of AK-47 Rifles, Light Machine Guns, FN Rifles, Lar Rifle, Pistol, GPMG Rifles and locally fabricated dane guns.
He praised the amnesty programme in Zamfara state, which he said have played a great role in the recovery.
Musa further added that an armory belonging to notorious bandits’ gang known as Zakuri in Zamfara was discovered where 30 AK-47 Rifles were recovered at once.

According to him, two suspected kidnappers and ten others on alleged culpable homicide offenses were arrested including one person suspected to be involved in the attack of the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor.
He also disclosed that not less than 143 animals comprising Sheep and Cows along with eight motorcycles were recovered from the hoodlums.
Musa reiterated the commitment of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG-P), in charge of the Zone, AIG Muhammad Mustapha on sustain efforts and ensure that all commands live up to the expectations.
The Police spokesman enjoined all citizens to be law-abiding and go about their lawful activities without fear or molestation by anyone, saying they should always assist police with useful information on any suspicious movements.
