THE police on Friday arraigned a 65 -year-old property developer, Folashade Aworunshe after she failed to produce three women she stood as surety for in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Aworunshe, who resides at Isolo, Lagos, entered a ‘not guilty’ plea to the conspiracy and perversion of justice charges levelled against her.
The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde told the court that the defendant committed the offences on June 11 at CPX Squad Lagos State Command, Ikeja.
Ayorinde said the defendant conspired with three others to obstruct and pervert the course of justice.

He said that the defendant stood as surety for Nimotu Onisemitu, Mutiat Adeoye and Falilat Aregbe, who were arrested for alleged conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretences.
“They were released to the defendant who promised to produce them from time to time until the case against them is finally disposed of or charge to court but failed to do so.
“The defendant is hereby called upon to show course why the sum of N1Omillion bond executed by her should not be forfeited,” the prosecutor said.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 97 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that section 97 (1) provides seven years imprisonment for conspiracy and attempt to prevent justice.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate B.O Osunsanmi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N800,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi ordered that all the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government(LASG)
She adjourned the case until Aug. 28 for mention.
