Oyo NLA executive visits The Oke-Ogun poly, Saki, seeks management’s support

The executives of the Nigeria Library Association (NLA), Oyo State chapter, during a familiarisation visit to The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki have lauded the achievements of the management of The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, Oyo State.

The NLA chairman, Dr Olatunji Olaojo, who led the team to the institution on Tuesday, said the reason for the familiarisation tour was to solicit the support of its Rector and the Librarian.

The institution’s Rector, Mr Mathew Oladeji, while receiving the NLA team, said the institution had a newly constructed automated library, among other projects embarked upon by the management.

This was contained in a statement by the institution’s media aide, Mr Samson Adebayo, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune.

Adebayo disclosed to the NLA executives that the institution’s management released funds annually to the library for the procurement of textbooks and other library materials.

He, therefore, enjoined students of the school to make good use of the facilities in the library, saying “reading makes a man and readers are leaders.”

Speaking, the institution’s librarian, Mr Olukunle  Osunrinade  expressed his gratitude to NLA chairman and other executive members of the association for the visit, just as he lauded the  institution’smanagement for its contribution to the multi-million naira automated library.

Responding, NLA chairman, Dr Olaojo commended the Rector, Mr Oladeji “for being a man of integrity, for his love, vision and strive for excellence which has holistically moved the institution to a greater height,” adding that what he saw at the institution “is a great leap from what we had before and what we have now.”

He also advised the students of the institution to do their best to make judicious use of the resources at their disposal, made possible under the Rector’s good leadership

“Students should visit the library regularly instead of relying on Internet materials which are not always reliable, well-edited and at times do not contain genuine information,” Dr  Olatunji said.
