Over N42m worth of prizes to be won at 2024 QOH Pageantry

Building on the success of last year’s event, the organisers of the Queen of Humanity (QOH) Naija pageantry have announced that this year’s winners will receive ₦42 million in prizes, including a brand new car, highlighting the pageant’s dedication to empowering women.

The QOH Naija pageantry, initiated by the wife of the Cross River state governor, Rev Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, aims to enhance the welfare of the girl child.

The official launch of the second edition, themed “Beauty and Brain,” took place on Friday at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Cross River State Council.

The state governor’s wife was represented by her Senior Special Assistant for Administration, Dr Comfort Oko.

During the unveiling, Comrade Archibong Bassey, the state chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, expressed her enthusiasm for the pageant and assured the support of her members.

As the first female NUJ chairman in the state, she urged the organizers to uphold high moral standards throughout the event and beyond.

Earlier, the executive producer of the 2024 Queen of Humanity Naija pageantry, Mr Michael Moses, acknowledged past issues from the first edition, which prompted a complete restructuring of the organising team.

He mentioned that the winner will serve as the state’s humanitarian ambassador and an icon for humanity. The pageant is open to young Nigerian girls aged 18 to 30, and interested contestants are encouraged to register after paying a fee of ₦10,000.

Moses highlighted that the pageant, being a vision of the governor’s wife, includes a sustainability plan. The crowned Queen will have an office in the governor’s wife’s office and will tour all 18 local government areas to engage with the future council chairmen.

The event is scheduled to begin on December 1st, with contestants spending almost a month in camp filled with intensive activities that will closely evaluate their character, communication skills, and various virtues. The grand finale is billed for December 27, 2024, at the Calabar International Conference Centre (CICC).

“This event prioritises the girl child, who deserves attention, support, and recognition as an essential part of humanity,” he stated.
