The Grand Imam of Ijesaland, Sheikh Muhammad Idris, has offered special prayers for the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who he described as a man of purpose and that has surmounted countless hurdles in the battle to entrench democracy for a greater Nigeria.
Sheikh Idris led the prayers on Tuesday at his mosque in Coca Cola area, Ilesa, during an iftar programme organized by the former Commissioner for Works and Transportation in Osun State, Engr. Remi. Omowaiye.
He said Tinubu has done a lot to ensure a better country and prayed for wisdom and strength for him to steer the affairs of the country effectively and with the fear of the Lord.
According to him, Tinubu is intelligent and the most qualified among other contenders due to his wealth of experience. He added that Tinubu will be sworn in and his reign will turn the tides and bring good tidings to the nation.
He urged the people to continue praying for Tinubu so that his good thoughts towards the country will become a reality.
The Sheikh also offered prayers for the former governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, who is currently at umrah, adding that he deserves prayers because he is a prayerful person.
He also lauded Engr Omowaiye, who despite being a Christian has been a backbone of the muslim community and has done so much in their interest, adding that he single handedly renovated the Ilesa Central mosque despite being a Christian.
In his response, Engr Omowaiye promised to continue supporting the Muslim community to reinforce peaceful coexistence that already exists, adding that the people of Ijesaland will not allow anybody cause dissension among them under the guise of religious affiliation, reiterating that “we are brothers and sisters and should not allow anyone divide us”
