AS the preparations for the conduct of the coming governorship poll in Osun gather momentum, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, on Tuesday said his command would provide effective and responsive security arrangements to enhance conduct of peaceful and credible exercise.
He said with the existing healthy collaboration in conjunction with other security agencies, the people of the state Nigerians should expect a hitch-free gubernatorial poll that would serve as template for elections in the country.
Adeoye gave these hints at a consultative town hall meeting organised by a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), identified as Hope for Family Development Initiative (HFDI), which was packaged to sensitise women ahead of the electoral exercise in Iba community of Boripe local government area of the state.
The Police boss, who was represented by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun State Police command, Mrs Folasade Odoro maintained that with the commitment of the current Inspector General (IG) to providing effecient security in all parts of the nation, including the state, the September 22 exercise would be devoid of any form of violence or hiccup.

He implored all the 48 governorship candidates of the political parties, participating in the poll to exhibit decorum and civility during the election, he warned political thugs, contemplating to cause any form of mayhem to desist or face the full wrath of law, adding that police dogs, including other detective gadgets would be deployed to support the conduct of the election.
While assuring that soldiers would not be sighted at polling centres, Adeoye said they would join other security agencies on patrol duties along major streets and other areas checkmate any ugly incident.
In his remark at the event, the Eburu of Iba, Oba Adekunle Okunoye Oyedeji 11 called on electorates to eschew any acts capable of undermining the peace and tranquillity in the state, stressing that stakeholders and leaders political parties owe it a duty to educate their followers on the need to ensure peace during the poll.
The traditional ruler advised that the prevailing peace, currently being enjoyed by all and sundry must not be jeopardised regardless of political, religious and tribal inclinations.
