Osinbajo in Benue, says FG has provided N10bn to rebuild destroyed homes

Vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has said that the federal government has released N10 billion to rebuild the destroyed homes across the country.

The vice president was in Benue state yesterday where he visited the Abagena IDPs camp along Makurdi Laafia road as well as RCM in Daudu of Guma local government area of the state.

The vice president while addressing the displaced persons at the two camps promised that federal government had concluded plans to rebuild the destroyed property in Benue and other states affected by the crisis.

He stated that the president had identified three major areas of prompt action which he named as; security, rebuild and to restore back the farmland to the people.

VP Osinbajo further said that the president had already made available N10billion to rebuild all the destroyed property in all the areas that were affected by the crisis.

In his words, ‘am here on behalf of the president, you recall that the president ordered for a survey to be done especially the destruction of home and displacement of people.

” Three things were Identified by president which must be done, first is security, that all home destroyed are secured, the second is for the people to be able to return and to ensure that hones destroyed are rebuilt and third is that we must restore farmland so that farmers and others who engage in other activities will be able to do so.”

Osinbajo said that the returns of the displaced persons back to their ancestral homes will be done immediately.

While assuring the displaced persons that their joy has come, the vice president quoted the Bible by saying, ‘when weeping endures for a night, joy comet in the morning, let me assure you that your morning has come and your joy has come.”

He also told the people not to see the provision of security and education by the government as a favour, but that as their right

The vice president, however, advised the people to key into the microcredit facilities for traders and artisans as well as CBN anchor borrower for farmers.

Speaking earlier, the state governor, Samuel Ortom thanked the federal government for promptly responding to the call of the people of the state to upgrade the exercise ayem akpatuma to an operation which he said led to more troops deployed to the state.

Ortom told the visiting vice president that the people are eager to return to their ancestral homes to begin the farming especially now that the raining season has set in.
