Speaking after his emergence as a consensus governorship candidate of the NPM on Saturday, Alhaji Oniyangi promised to make a difference if given the mandate as the next Governor of the State in the 2019 general election.
“I want to make a difference in good governance, transparency, honesty and integrity, we are really backward at 58 years old. It is just so obvious that a lot of things are down. The education system is down, Kwara State ought to be the major producer of food for the nation, the youths are unemployed, the poverty level is really horrible.
“I feel elated, it is something that we have been working towards for a long time. In our own kind of model, slow, steady and get focus. For me I think the journey starts today, that is what we want to start doing, to make a difference that all community is looking out for, the ship is already here at the dock,” he said.

“The three cardinal points that make a nation is agriculture, education and healthcare. Embedded in all these three are job creation and so many other things. To me, to make a nation, you must have all those three fundamentals. Once you get them right, everything is good to go. We also want to move our system back to where it used to be. You know, from Godfatherism back to kingmaker. That is what we want to do and to show that the youths of this State can deliver on their set goals,” he said.
On how to slug it out with other political parties, he said, “From our Motto, it is very simple, success is from God, we have the ingenuity to do this. If it is good for us so shall it be. What is good for us won’t miss us and what misses us is not good for us.”
