The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, has vowed to stun guests at this year’s edition of the state-owned Yelutide and end of year musical concert known as the One Lagos Fiesta (OLF).
This is as over two million direct guests and 90 million viewers are being factored in the series of events beginning from Christmas eve, December 24, up to the early hours of the New Year, January 1 in five locations of the state.
Announcing the activities billed for the events during a press briefing at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, in Alausa, Ikeja, recently, Ayorinde enjoined Lagosians and visitors to anticipate a joie de vivre moment in the events tagged, “A December to Remember”.
“One thing we are sure of is that the One Lagos Fiesta of this year is going to be bigger in terms of attendance and activities,” Ayorinde said.
“It is just for people to have fun for eight days.
“As a government, we are encouraged by the noticeable achievements recorded as a result of hosting this event in the previous years and we are taking advantage of these achievements in hosting millions of Lagosians, who have supported this initiative running for the 4th consecutive year.
“The One Lagos Fiesta draws parallel with other international crossover events in the world especially in the countdown night to December 31, and with the unique features associated with the fiesta, it is anticipated to attract over 2 million direct participants across the state and over 90 million viewers via live television and live streaming on social media,” he added.
The commissioner said the live music concert will be manned by established DJs and MCs with high profile performances from A list artistes from 6.00pm to 12 mid night in the five venues namely Agege Stadium Agege, Bar Beach/Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island, Badagry Grammar School Badagry, Epe Marina Waterfront Epe and Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu.
Other activities that will run from 12.00 noon to 6.00pm include kiddies corner and will feature bouncing castle, Rodeo Bull, Carrousels as well as cultural performances, stage plays and talent hunts known as the Lagos Grows Talent (LGT), which provides young people the platform to showcase their talents in comedy, dance, singing, choreography among others.
And speaking about additional innovations to OLF, Ayorinde said there will be a raffle draw section aimed at giving a lucky guest a 7 million worth brand-new GSE 3X car from GIC Motors.
“Participants of the raffle draw don’t have to do anything other than be a resident of Lagos, be up to 18 years and have a valid Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC).
“And there will be other consolation prizes. We only ask that the winner retain the OneLagos Fiesta logo for the first one year of winning the car.
“Entries will close on 26 December as all entries will be submitted strictly online through the OLF website while winner is expected to emerge through a raffle draw which will be conducted on the 31st December 2018 at the Eko Atlantic City venue,” he said.
Speaking about the menu of artistes outlined for the events, Ayorinde said, “We are also introducing A list artistes who were not part of previous shows onboard. We are expecting Iyanya, Timaya, Flavour to be onboard. It is a huge platform. And we are also retaining other artistes we have used.”
Some of the artistes expected to perform this year include Olamide, Davido, Teni, Slimcase, Mr Real, Humblesmith, Blackky, Mr P, Adewale Ayuba, Saheed Osupa among others.
