One person was feared dead, and two police vans alongside other vehicles were destroyed, on Thursday, at the Lilypond container terminal in Apapa, Lagos when truck drivers and members of the presidential task force on Apapa gridlock team clashed in a face-off over extortion claims.
As at the time of filing in this report, two police Hilux vans were still on fire.
The cause of the face-off is not yet known but our correspondent who spoke with some of the protesting truckers said it was due to extortion by some members of the taskforce team.

In the melee, it was gathered that a young driver who was in his early twenties died inside the terminal.
Eyewitness account confirmed to our correspondent that the rift between both parties started on Wednesday over alleged bribery and by noon, on Thursday, two patrol vans have been set ablaze and scores of other vehicles destroyed in the skirmish that ensued between truckers and the task force team in the terminal.
The entry gate of the truck transit park is currently on fire even as military operatives were sighted shooting sporadically in the air.
