THE Ondo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the weekend raised the alarm over an alleged plan by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to attack all the 18 local government council in the state.

The PDP alarm was contained in a statement issued and signed by its Director of Publicity, Ayo Fadaka, who disclosed that all arrangements have been concluded by members of APC in the state to disrupt activities at the local council secretariats across the state.

According to Fadaka, the attack was plan to create an emergency situation that could lead to the dissolution of the elected local government administrators who were duly elected last year.

The party said the attack, which has been scheduled to begin as from March 6th, 2017 is part of an attempt to create an emergency situation that could necessitated the dissolution of the elected local government administrators.

The party stated that: “We feel duty bound to alert the people of Ondo State of a planned attack on the 18 Local Government Secretariats across the State by members of the APC slated to begin from the 6th of March, all in a bid to create an emergency situation which in their calculation will necessitate the dissolution of the elected administrations at that level of government.

“Our intelligence report further indicates that it is being co-ordinate at the top echelon of the APC. This disingenuous action, if implemented, will only achieve a breakdown of law and order.”

The party maintained that the elected local government officials should be allowed to complete their tenure, saying they would not sit back for the APC to trample on institutions of government.

The PDP also extended its hands of fellowship to the APC government in the state saying it would be willing to collaborate with the new government towards developing the state, but said the party would resist any attempt to undermine the people and institutions.

The PDP in the state noted that the new administration of APC in the state has been inactive, lacking direction since inauguration and said ” a full week has since expired since the Akeredolu’s government was inaugurated, and even in spite of the fact that it had a post election three months to prepare for governance, the administration is still inactive, docile and still unable to kick-start.

“The party remains not sure footed on what it intends to do with power, we therefore call on our dear Arakunrin to justify the reasons why he is Governor and begin forthwith the implementation of his programs for the State.”

However, the state Publicity Secretary of APC, Abayomi Adesanya, described the allegation against the party as unfounded and untrue saying the allegation only existed in the imagination of the PDP.

He said “We are peace loving people and we are concerned about how the state would progress. There is no truth in that, and the APC will never engage any attack on the institutions of government.”

Speaking on the slow pace at which the new government has been operating, Adesanya, said Akeredolu would not be stampeded into taking decisions.

He disclosed that the new governor has been consulting while the appointment of top government functionaries would soon be announced.

“We are still trying to clean up the mess left behind by the PDP government. The last government left about N150 billion debts with eight months’ salary of workers unpaid

“The new government is going to take its time to reach critical decisions that would be meaningful and result oriented, rather than take decisions in a hurry that would be reversed later. The governor will soon address the people of the state.” Abayomi said.
