… trains students, donates writing materials, commends Aiyedatiwa for sustaining LCDA structure
In a bid to combat unemployment and foster youth empowerment, the Vice Chairman of Oyemekun LCDA, Hon Oluwadamilare Adeleye, has trained and employed over 1,000 youths on leadership skills, entrepreneurship, and financial sustenance abilities.
Speaking during the training and empowerment programme, Adeleye said the transformative initiative aimed towards addressing youth unemployment and equipping them with essential skills for the future.

Adeleye said the Foundation, in partnership with Skill a Youth and other relevant stakeholders, said the youths were trained in high-value skills such as tailoring, car tracking, shoemaking, and ICT training.
He said the writing materials, including notebooks, were donated to school children in the LCDA to encourage them to focus on their education.
He noted that the recent shoe-making training programme organised for students in Omoluorogbo Grammar School, Akure was a huge success.
He stated that the initiative was designed to transform students into purpose-driven leaders who understand the power of education and skills development.
According to him, the three-day comprehensive training focused on shoe-making techniques and entrepreneurship education, is put in place to recognize the importance of skills in enhancing future employability, saying it will also help to contribute to economic growth
Adeleye commended the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his support in sustaining the LCDAs in Ondo State.
He attributed the development in the area to the support of the governor, describing him as a lover of democracy and grassroots development who is always bringing dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
“What we have done today is to encourage young persons to embrace marketable skills as the market space becomes more competitive.
“We will continue to engage these students in practical training to ensure they become the drivers and movers of our economy.
“True leadership is fundamentally about empowering others and creating an environment where individuals can thrive. This involves recognising the strengths of others and helping them achieve global success by nurturing their gifts and talents,” he said.
The highlights of this skills training camp were characterised by the presence of distinguished personalities who hailed the initiative.
The chief press secretary to Ondo State Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan commended Adeleye for the initiative and said it will go a long way to impacting the students positively.
The governor’s spokesperson said everyone should be equipped with practical skills education, beyond formal education, to meet global requirements.
He noted that Adeleye has consistently promoted skills empowerment in the LCDA, facilitating various high-value skills and empowerment programs for youths and students in Ondo State, aiming to promote self-reliance and entrepreneurship opportunities.
The guest Speaker, Prof. Josiah Babalola of the Civil Engineering department, Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), while speaking on the theme ‘Advancing Education and Skills Development among Youths and Students in Nigeria’ charged the students to marry their skills with education to become financially free.
The principal of the school, Mrs Rocks Orimaye, also commended the LCDA for providing the students with a lifetime opportunity to learn from experts, saying the program will certainly impact the lives of the students.
