Following the flood that submerged parts of Ondo city on Friday, Honourable Abiola Makinde, the Member representing Ondo East/West federal constituency in the House of Representatives, visited the affected areas on Saturday for an on-the-spot assessment.
His goal was to find a lasting solution to the flooding and provide support to the affected residents.
Accompanied by the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Honourable Wale Akinsotu, Makinde praised the resilience and bravery of the constituents, as videos circulating on social media showed community members rescuing others from being swept away by the floodwaters.

The assessment covered areas such as the canal along Ife Road, the canal at Fagun Estate, and the bridge at Oke-Odunwo, all of which have experienced repeated flooding.
Makinde assured the residents that he would use his position to reach out to relevant government agencies like the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide aid and support during this difficult time.
He expressed his gratitude to Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who, despite being out of the state during the flood, quickly dispatched his cabinet to address the issue.
Makinde also thanked the paramount ruler of Ondo Kingdom, the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Dr. Victor Kiladejo, for his proactive role, as well as youth groups and the general public for their continued support.
