The Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has rescued a primary school female pupil who was allegedly sodomized by the school headmaster.
The incident reportedly occurred in Adamo, Ikorodu, which is a border community.
This information was shared in a post by the Commissioner, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, on social media. She stated that a team from the Ministry acted swiftly after receiving the report.
She informed that the suspect has been added over to the Police for further investigation, while the victim and her mother are being followed up for necessary attention.
She said, “Our rescue team has intervened in Adamo, Ikorodu, a border community, following reports of a school headmaster physically assaulting (sodomize) a young female pupil. While the perpetrator is presently within police custody, we are following up on the rescued child and mother for necessary attention and further action.
“We want to assure the public that the victim is receiving the necessary medical care and psychological support. The Ministry remains resolute in securing justice for all survivors of abuse and will continue to work with Law enforcement agencies to ensure swift and decisive action against perpetrators.
“We urge members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any cases of child abuse, domestic violence, and other forms of human maltreatment.
“We reaffirm that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration will continue to maintain zero tolerance for gender-based violence, child abuse and other form of domestic abuse. In this regards, members of the public are urged to make use of the Ministry toll-free emergency lines—08000000666 and 08000000555—to report cases anonymously and receive immediate intervention.
“Together, we can create a safer and more just society where every child is protected, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive.”
In the same vein, the Ministry, again rescued a four-year-old boy (name withheld) who was assaulted by his father in Igboko, Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the State.
Hon Adeleye said the child has been placed under the care of the Ministry where he is reported to be receiving medical care and emotional support.
The commissioner said, “As part of our unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and responding swiftly to cases of child abuse, the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has once again taken decisive action to rescue victims and ensure that perpetrators face the full weight of the law.
“Acting on reports from concerned individuals, our officials rescued a four-year-old boy (name withheld) in Igboko, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, who had been brutally assaulted by his father. The child has since been placed under the protective custody of the Ministry, where he is receiving comprehensive medical care and emotional support.
“Meanwhile, the alleged perpetrator is currently in police custody with all necessary legal arrangements underway to ensure justice is served.
“At present, the child is stable and responding well to medical treatment, with further tests and evaluations being conducted to ensure his full recovery.”
