THE Ogbomoso Local Government Legislative Council has suspended the executive chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala (JP), who is the son of the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), in Oyo state, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala and eight councillors for what it termed gross misconduct.
The suspension which is expected to take immediate effect is dated February 15, 2019, and was signed by four councillors in the local government area that were not affected by the suspension.
Councillors suspended from Ogbomoso North alongside the chairman are Oladele Sunday Abiodun, Alagbe Ayandunmade Titi Mary, Olawunmi Felicia Olutayo and Adekunle Jonathan while those suspended from Ogbomoso Central Local Council Development Authority are Akande Isiah Ranti, Olabode Abiola Amos, Salaudeen Muyideen Mohammed and Muhammed Yesufu Nurudeen.

It will be recalled that Olamijuwonlo had last Thursday defected from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to ADP, his father’s party and had joined the ADP mega campaign of Ogbomoso and its environs.
All the suspended elected officers have been given their letters of suspension, copies of which were sent to the office of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Bimbo Kolade and the Head of Local government Administration in Ogbomoso North Local Government, M.F Afolabi.
The Area Commander of the Nigeria Police in Ogbomoso was also sent a letter dated February 18 and signed by the Head of Local government Administration in Ogbomoso North Local Government, informing him of the suspension of the chairman and asking that the police ensure adequate security within the Local Government Secretariat and the council area in general to forestall possible breakdown of law and order.
