The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), Zamfara state command has paraded four suspects and recovered 40 bunches of copper wire and 40 jerricans of petrol (PMS) suspected to be transporting to bandits in the State.
The Zamfara NSCDC commandant, Sani Mustafa while parading the suspects on Thursday, at command headquarters in Gusau, said the suspects contravene the shari’a penal code and state executive order.
Commandant Sani Mustafa who spoke through the command public relations officer Ikor Oche disclosed that the achievements were recorded a few days in the state.
“You are here to be brief on some of the milestone achievements of the Corps under the leadership of Commandant Sani Mustapha which were recorded in the past few days,two sets of suspects are to be paraded before you today on different offences”.
“On the 18 February, 2024, one Sani Yakubu (M) 41 years of age was arrested for vandalization of electric cables
suspected to have been vandalized from Government Day Secondary School Tudun Wada Gusau”.
He said that Preliminary investigations have revealed that, the suspect is notorious for vandalization of electrical wires within the said school premises in the state.
“He testified to have made previous criminal attempts in vandalizing electrical fittings and wires from the said school of which he succeeded and sold the vandalized items to one Abubakar Ibrahim (M) 35 years at labin labin area of Tudun Wada Gusau metropolis, who deals on scraps, at the rate of N23000.00”.
“On this fateful day, he broke into the school premises, boggled a window, and with the aid of a table, climbed into the ceiling and vandalized the electrification system of the school’s classroom block.
According to him, Exhibits found with the suspect included 40 bunches of copper wires from the crime scene which the suspect vandalized.
“On the 20th February 2024, at about 1501hours one Malam Isah Ahmed (M) of Bakura town was apprehended by the operatives of the Corps alongside with two others by names, Usman Aliyu (M) and Habibu Abdullahi (M) for purchasing PMS products in large numbers of jericans in a black tinted Golf Wagon with registration number GMM 40 XA Zamfara, from Anshaibu Integrated Global Resource Limited, Talata Mafara. This act contravenes the Executive Order issued by the State Government on the banning the sale of PMS products in jericans”.
He stressed that the purchase of PMS products in large quantities of jerricans contravenes the Executive Order issued by the State Government, the suspects were Charged with Attempt to commit the offense, contrary to section 95 of the penal code.
“This singular act is charged with an Attempt to Commit Offence contrary to section 95 of the penal code. Exhibits found with the suspects include 40 jerricans of 25 litters each loaded with PMS”.
The Zamfara state command of NSCDC maintained that all the suspects will be charged in court after investigation in the state.
Commandant Sani Mustapha vowed to ensure that the state is purged of all manner of criminalities, he therefore warns the general public to stay away from crimes of any sort as offenders will be ruthlessly dealt with in the state.
