The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Imo State chapter, has praised Governor Hope Uzodimma for his numerous achievements recorded under his administration.
This commendation was contained in a statement issued in Owerri on Tuesday, jointly signed by the NITP Chairman, TPL Edith Akweke, and the Secretary-General, TPL Dr Chris Onyeneke.
The NITP congratulated the Governor for delivering the 12th Convocation lecture of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, titled “Agriculture and National Development in a Diversified Economy: A Vision of Renewed Hope Through Town and Gown Entrepreneurship Partnership,” which took place on October 29.
The group also described the Governor’s push towards establishing the South East Development Commission as a significant achievement. They further commended him for appointing TPL Barr. Raymond Ucheoma, a fellow of the institute, who served as Head of Service in the state.
The NITP lauded the Governor’s efforts in massive physical, urban, and regional development, citing high-quality road construction, bridges, interchanges, and hospitals as evidence.
Additionally, they acknowledged the Governor’s economic empowerment initiatives for workers, youths, and the elderly, including timely salary payments and improved healthcare services.
The body also extolled the Governor’s scholarly and pragmatic publications, including Service Above Self: Lessons from the Leadership of Dr. Michael Okpara, Why Universities Should Lead the Way to a New Nigeria, and Giant Strides of a Democratic Soldier Vol. 1 & 2, among others.
The NITP, while wishing the Governor continued success, urged him to apply scholastic brilliance in planning and harnessing the development of the state.
