Briefing newsmen at the Command’s headquarters in Abeokuta, on Thursday, was the Comptroller of Immigration Service, Ajibola Bayeroju, who said that the Command would continue to raid border communities to rid the state of illegal immigrants and miscreants.
Those arrested were Alagbe Ogunde (35) and Yaguenu Tonye (56).
Items such as two locally made pistols loaded with ammunition, assorted charms, dagger, gunpowder bank savings and withdrawal booklets and several door keys were recovered from them.
Alagbe while speaking with Nigerian Tribune said he made the pistols to protect himself from any form of attack.
The NIS boss said that one of the suspects (Alagbe) confessed in his confessional statement to have been involved in criminal acts and subsequently jailed in Benin Republic sometimes back.
The suspect was also said to have confessed that he had an intention of attacking officers of NIS at Ohunbe/Obelle Control Post.
Bayeroju said that the suspects would be handed over to the State police command for further investigation.
“We want to assure the good people of Ogun State of our commitment to continue in our efforts at contributing to peace and security in the state.
“We shall ensure relentless patrol of our border lines with the Republic of Benin while sustaining raids and repatriation of all illegal immigrants,” he added.
