The All Progressive Congress (APC), candidate in the 2019 Presidential elections, President Muhammadu Buhari has won the general election in Sokoto State with a margin of 138,729 votes.
While announcing the results at the main auditorium of Sultan Muhammad Maccido institute of Quranic and general studies, the State collation Officer, Professor Yakub Yahusa, who is the vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano disclosed that the candidate of APC scores a total number of 490,333 while the candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar scores 351604.
Professor Yahusa added that the total number of registered voters the State is 1,895,266 while total accredited voters is 950,147. He further disclosed that a total number of 925,940 votes were cast while the total valid votes are 871,891 and invalid votes stand at 54,049.
The candidate of APC was declared the winner in 19 Local Governments of the which includes, Wurno, Kware, Bodinga, Sokoto South, Sokoto North, Yabo, Wamakko, Gwadabawa, kebbe.
Others are Illela, Rabbah, Tangaza, Shagari, Sabon Birni, Tambuwal, Denge-Shuni, Goronyo and Gada Local Governments.
In a related development, the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar also deliver four Local Governments which includes Gudu, Tureta, Silame and Isah Local Governments.
Speaking earlier, the Resident Electoral Commission (REC), for the Independent National Electoral Commission in the State, Mallam Sadiq Abubakar, advised the leadership of the parties in the State to take the election as part of life.
He admonished them to take the results as an act of sportsmanship, saying everyone in the State is a winner in the election.
