The struggle for Nigeria’s independence began with our founding fathers, namely Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Tafawa Balewa, Sir Herbert Macaulay and Chief Anthony Enahoro. Chief Enahoro was the one who moved the motion for Nigeria’s independence and same was graciously granted in 1960. The said motion was moved in 1958. Nigeria is still crawling till date despite all the efforts made by our founding fathers to give us a better Nigeria.
It is upsetting that Nigerians are still suffering and struggling to live from 1960 till date. Things such as kidnapping, robbery attacks and the killing of innocent Nigerians have continued to happen on a daily basis in Nigeria. Nigerian leaders have made the lives of the people of this nation a living hell. Those who can’t bear the current situation of this nation have relocated abroad because of fear of being killed by bandits and armed robbers. Nigerians need a life that is worth living.
Our leaders know what they can do to liberate the poorest Nigerians from the shackles of poverty but they don’t want to do it.
It is a pity that Nigeria can’t stand at 63. President Tinubu has made a difference by removing fuel subsidy, but the Federal Government is yet to provide enough relief materials for the poorest Nigerians to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal. The system used by the Federal Government to distribute relief materials to the poorest is not proper as those who are expected to get the said relief materials didn’t get them.
It might be helpful to Nigerians if the Federal Government can begin to distribute the relief materials to the poorest through their polling units.
