In a bid to foster development and strengthen ties within the Niger Delta Region, the Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, recently embarked on a working visit to Abia State, where he pledged to collaborate with the state on infrastructural development.

His visit aimed to assess ongoing projects, explore collaboration opportunities, and address pertinent issues concerning the region’s development.

During his visit to the state, the Minister paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Alex Otti.

Gov. Otti lauded the Minister’s efforts and emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Ministry and the government of Abia State to achieve more impactful development outcomes not only within the state but also across the entire Niger Delta Region.

During the meeting, Governor Otti also highlighted the need for attention to be given to some abandoned projects in the state, urging the Ministry to prioritise their completion for the benefit of the citizens.

In response, Momoh commended the governor for his developmental achievements within a relatively short period since assuming office.

He encouraged the governor to maintain the momentum and assured him of the ministry’s commitment to supporting such transformative initiatives.

Subsequently, Minister Momoh embarked on an inspection tour of various ongoing projects across Abia State, which include Ntigha Umuopara Amuzu Akanu Ohanze Isiahla Road, located in Obingwa LGA, phase 1 (2.5km), the Land Reclamation and Erosion Control Project, situated at Ogudu Asa Phase 1, and the and the Rehabilitation of Okaiga Nkwoegwu Primary and Secondary School, found in Umuahia North LGA.

Others are the Emergency Construction of Road Obehie Junction to NDDC Abia State Office, located in Oke-Ikpe, Akwa West LGA, and Emergency Repairs of Failed and Unmotorable Sections of Amaku to Umuomianta Mbawsi, covering Lots 1 and 2 in Isialangwa LGA.

The Minister’s visit also met with the Chairman of Umuahia North Traditional Rulers Council, HRM (Sir) Ize Innocent Adiele Nwaigwe.

The visit signifies a renewed commitment to collaborative efforts aimed at accelerating development, fostering inclusivity, and improving the quality of life for the people of Abia State and the wider Niger Delta Region.
