A Non-Governmental Organisation, She-Alert Care Foundation (SHE-ALERT), has secured the donation of medical equipments and disinfectants from Dankani Guest Palace in Sokoto State.
Speaking while receiving the donation on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Asabe Balarabe, described the gesture as a valuable contribution toward enhancing government efforts to improve healthcare delivery.
Represented by Bello Garba, Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary Healthcare, expressed gratitude to both Dankani Guest Palace and SHE-ALERT for their support.
“This donation will significantly address the needs of the three selected Primary Healthcare Centers and help ease the government’s burden in providing these essential facilities,” she said.
She further assured that the materials would be distributed to the targeted PHCs and would reach the intended beneficiaries.
In her remarks, Mrs. Blessing Gidado, Executive Director of SHE-ALERT, noted that the donation aligns with the NGO’s commitment to engaging the private sector in Integrated Supportive Supervision (ISS) in the state.
Gidado explained that the initiative, implemented by Palladium in collaboration with Nigeria Resource Partners (RPS) is drive by the Better Life Restoration Initiative (BERI), aimed at supporting the USAID-funded Health System Strengthening Cluster project.
“The project, titled ‘Improved Quality Healthcare Service Delivery through ISS,’ focuses on quality improvement through oversight, skills transfer, and knowledge sharing with healthcare providers,” Gidado stated.
She highlighted that the exclusion of private sector partners in ISS funding has deprived the state of valuable resources, urging other businesses and individuals to follow Dankani Guest Palace’s lead.
In recognition of Dankani Guest Palace’s support, Gidado presented the firm with a certificate of commendation and encouraged continued contributions to the welfare of the community.
Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director of Dankani Guest Palace, Aliyu Dankani, said the contribution was part of the company’s commitment to humanitarian service within the community.
He expressed appreciation to SHE-ALERT for the collaboration and pledged further support to alleviate the economic challenges faced by vulnerable groups.
The three benefiting PHCs are Kwandawa Primary Healthcare Centre in Sokoto North LGA, Gidan Dahala Primary Healthcare Centre in Sokoto South LGA, and Tungar Tudu Primary Healthcare Centre in Gwadabawa LGA.
The donated items include stethoscopes, thermometers, cotton wool, pads, surgical spirit, glucometers, packs of pregnancy test strips, packs of vitamin C, cartons of multivitamins, bleach, disinfectants, detergent, and Nightingale hospital gowns.
