The naval officers’ spouses, under the aegis of Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA), were led on the visit by wife of the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Rear Admiral S. S. Garba, Mrs J.S Garba.
Besides evoking smiles from the patients with the packs of gifts made up of beverages, among others, the women also donated items such as refuse bins, mops, treated mosquito nets, moping buckets, bags of detergents, bed sheets, cartons of insecticides and germicides.

Mrs Garba, who was accompanied by wives of other naval officers, had, on arrival from Yenagoa, paid a visit to Commander, Nigerian Navy Shop (NNS DELTA), Commodore Ibrahim Garba.
She disclosed that the visit and gifts for the patients, including those at the maternity ward, were at the instance of wife of the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Mrs Theresa Ibas, who’s the national president of NOWA.
“The reason we are here is to render our support to Nigerian Navy Hospital here in Warri.
“We came here on behalf of our national president, Mrs Theresa Ibas. She made us to arrange all that we distributed to the patients on behalf of NOWA bodies.
“NOWA made it possible by sending me and my colleagues here. May God protect our national president if not because of her kindness and generosity, the distribution of these gifts will not have been possible,” Mrs Garba enthused.
Earlier, Chief Matron of the NNH, Captain R. O. Popoola, lauded the welfarism spirit of NOWA, but requested assistance in the areas of baby colts, mattresses, chat holders, drop stands and a general toilet for outpatients.
Responding, Mrs Garba thanked the naval medical personnel for their good work, promising that NOWA would execute a major project at the hospital as well as attend to other requests in no time.
One of the patients, MWO Haruna, who was elated by the humanitarian gesture, thanked the women for their kind gesture, describing it as unprecedented.
