NAPS passes vote of confidence on Ogun State police command

The attention of National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) had been drawn to a rumour circulating the air that there was an alleged attack by herdsmen along Lagos/Ibadan expressway as well as security threat letter written by some unknown personality.

Firstly, we use this opportunity to attest that we read a press statement issued by ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi who is the state command Public Relation Officer on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command and we pledge our loyalty to the security agency to be of help in making sure that peace reigns in Ogun State and Nigeria.

A statement made availabe to Tribune Online by the publicity secretary of the student body, Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye, explained that the messages and voice records going round is so disheartening that some people can be used to create tension in the state when “we are all aware of the current security saga going on in some part of the nation. This unknown people went so low to act in a pathetic and unruly way not minding the Ogun State command proactive manner to security of life and properties.

“We totally condemn the act of spreading false information. If you ever face a significant issue , do your best to keep up the spirits of those around you, act flexibly and creatively to help try to sort rumours from truth, and remember that the decisions you make will have repercussions after the disaster has passed.

“NAPS leadership commend the Nigeria Police, Ogun State Command under the leadership of CP Ahmed Iliyasu for expeditious response to issues that matters in the state. NAPS is also using this opportunity to tell you that we won’t stand tall for any student caught in this unmeaningful act.”

The statement also included that “We appreciate the command for her proactive manners to safety of life and properties which has been the priority of the command. We are very much aware of the day to day activities of the command through the office of the PPRO.

“Great discoveries and improvements invariably involve the cooperation of many minds. We appreciate the unity among all the divisional heads DPOs especially the Federal Special Anti Robery Squad F-SARS for there support to the commissioner which has made him a trail blazer.

“NAPS call on other meaningful Nigerians to be supportive to the security agencies at all cost. Any suspicious movement or gathering should be reported to the police and other sister security agencies with immediate effect. This will be a motivation to the Nigeria Police to bring sanity and justice back to our dear state and nation,” it said.
