In furtherance to the recent engagements between the leadership of National Association of Polytechnic Student NAPS under the watch of Comr Amb. Mohammed Eneji and the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) at the national secretariat in Abuja, the student body has commended the effort of women society to augment the welfare of girls in Nigeria.
The public relations officer of NAPS, Comrade Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye, stated that the organisation recognised the giant strides of NCWS under the administration of their capable president; Chief (Mrs) Gloria Laraba Shoda and stated their readiness to continually support and encourage the activities of the organisation and urge to continue with the good deed.
Olasunkanmi noted that NAPS is set to partner with NCWS to further improve the plight of women in the country.
“We hail the past leaders of the council and most especially the current National President, who was a former chairperson of a foremost polytechnic; Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.
“It is evident that the one year and few months in office of Mrs Shoda has brought meaningful achievement to the organisation.”
The PRO also commended the ‘women empowerment initiative’ in partnership with the Bank of Industry, statimg that initiative will go a long way in alleviating poverty and easing the financial burden of many women, directly or indirectly and have positive effect on students as most of the beneficiary are mothers to one student or the other.
“Furthermore, we implore NCWS to support the call to end the dichotomy between Bsc and HND. Com. We also wish to make it known to NCWS that it is pertinent for them to support youth-centric programme like campaign against rape, child trafficking, security harassment and other issues affecting youths in the country.
“NAPS reiterates its unequivocal support for the emancipation of women in Nigeria.”
