The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has hailed the appointment of Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
In a statement issued on Saturday by its National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Samson Adeyemi, NANS congratulated Omidiran and described her appointment as well-deserved.
The association also urged the new FCC boss to promote fairness and national unity.
Part of the statement read:
“This appointment is a testament to her decades of unwavering commitment to public service, inclusive governance, and the promotion of equity across Nigeria’s socio-political landscape. Hon. Omidiran’s inspiring journey from her formative years in Ikire, Osun State, through her academic pursuit at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, to her impactful career in politics and sports administration, reflects the values of diligence, integrity, and patriotism that NANS holds dear.

As students and youth leaders, we are particularly inspired by her legacy of service, her advocacy for women’s development, and her dedication to national unity. Her outstanding representation of Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, her leadership within the All Progressives Congress (APC), and her pioneering contributions to women’s football in Nigeria are hallmarks of a woman whose passion for Nigeria knows no bounds.
Hon. Omidiran’s appointment comes at a time when the principles of fairness, inclusion, and national cohesion—the core mandates of the Federal Character Commission—are more crucial than ever. We are confident that under her stewardship, the FCC will witness a renewed sense of purpose, transparency, and impact.
NANS celebrates this appointment as a victory not just for Osun State or the South-West, but for every Nigerian youth who sees in Hon. Omidiran a role model and a beacon of possibility. Her humility, excellence, and bridge-building spirit continue to resonate with the values we champion as a national student body.
We pray for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as she takes on this vital national responsibility. NANS stands ready to support and partner with the Commission under her leadership in advancing the cause of fairness and national unity.”
