Hausas and Fulanis living in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State have been admonished to continue to live in peace and unity with their host community for the purpose of development.
A community leader and the Isagba of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom, Chief Jude Ndudi Ozah, made the call during a meeting with the heads of Hausa, Fulani communities and Ogbe- Onicha people at Ogwashi-Uku.
Peace, according to Ozah, is paramount to development and as such the people should avoid actions that are capable of causing crisis in the community.
The traditional chief noted the incessant complaints by the people of the area over the destruction of crops in their farms by Fulani herders which he said, should stop for a friendly cohabitation
In his remarks, the head of Hausa community in the Aniocha South Local Government Area, Alhaji Mohammed Duka, commended Chief Ozah for his initiative to call the Hausa, Fulani and Ogbe- Onicha people for a meeting to resolve crisis amicably.
He assured of peaceful coexistence with their host community, saying that he would do everything possible to ensure that every issue between the Fulani herdsmen and farmers in the area were resolved.
Alhaji Duka, who is the Ogene of Ogwashi-Uku commended Chief Ozah’s development initiatives in Ogwashi-Uku, adding “Ogwashi-Uku will turn to a small London if the community has three people like Jude Ndudi Ozah.”
The head of Fulani cattle breeders in the area, Alhaji Garuba Abubakar appealed to the people of Ogbe-Onicha for calm over the destruction done to their farms, saying that the matters would be settled amicably.
He urged farmers to report any Fulani herdsman that would henceforth damage their crops in the farm to enable him to settle the matter.
