A partisan group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, the Ikeja Progressives Youths, on Friday endorsed and presented an aspirant under the platform of the APC, Hon. Abisola Omisore, with the party’s chairmanship nomination form for the 12 July local government election in the council area.
The Chairman of the group, Gbenga Bolaji, described Omisore as a politician who embodies values, commitment, and a passion for service.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Bolaji stated that the decision to endorse and support Hon. Omisore was reached after a thorough assessment of his plans, past contributions, and vision for the future of youths in the district.
The group, however, called on the leadership of the party and other stakeholders to stand with the people and support a leader who truly represents their common interests.
He stated that, “It is with great pride and unwavering confidence that we, the Ikeja Progressive Youths, officially present the APC nomination form to a man who embodies these values – Hon. Abisola Omisore. The form was purchased by the Progressives Youths of Ikeja LGA because we believe in his track record of humanitarian service and his unwavering dedication to our community.
“Our decision to endorse and support Hon. Abisola Omisore was not made lightly. After a thorough assessment of his plans for Ikeja, his past contributions, and his vision for our future, we are convinced that he is the leader we need at this crucial time.
“Omisore has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to youth empowerment. From skills acquisition programmes to educational support and palliative initiatives, he has shown that the youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow but key stakeholders of today.
“His popularity in Ikeja is not by chance but by choice – the choice to selflessly. Whether through healthcare interventions, community development projects, or programmes, he has touched countless lives. His blueprint for Ikeja is one of sustainable development, infrastructure improvement, and economic growth. We have examined his plans, and they align with our aspirations for a better, more prosperous local government.
“Today, we are not just presenting a form; we are igniting a movement. A movement for responsible leadership, for youth inclusion, and for the continued growth of Ikeja under the APC.

“The youths of Ikeja have spoken. We believe and trust in your leadership. And we are ready to work tirelessly to ensure your victory at the poll. Your victory is our victory – the victory of every young person, trader, artisan, and resident.”
Also at the event, an aspirant, Hon. Omotayo Matthew Aderinola, withdrew his aspiration for the chairmanship position of the Ikeja Local Government Area and declared his support for Omisore.
Announcing his withdrawal from the race, Aderinola stated that Omisore possessed the requisite qualifications and shared his vision for sustainable development and the wellbeing of the people in the district.
He added, “I am delighted to declare my support for a chairmanship aspirant who possesses the requisite qualifications and shares my vision for sustainable development and the well-being of the people of Ikeja, thereby actualising the renewed hope mantra of our National Leader and President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who coincidentally hails from Ikeja’s political base.
“In light of the current situation, I am pleased to announce my endorsement and support for Mr. Abisola Omisore, the most exceptional chairmanship aspirant to represent our great party, APC, in Ikeja for the forthcoming local government elections. I firmly believe that Mr. Omisore possesses the vision, leadership skills, and dedication required to propel Ikeja forward. I urge all my supporters and well-wishers to join me in rallying behind Mr. Omisore’s candidacy. Together, we can create a brighter future for Ikeja.”
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Omisore described the gesture as a symbol of belief in his vision and trust in his capacity and commitment to the progress of the Ikeja district.
He said, “First and foremost, I want to express my deepest appreciation to the Ikeja Progressive Youth for this incredible gesture of purchasing the nomination form on my behalf. This is not just a form; it is a symbol of your belief in my vision, your trust in my capacity, and your commitment to the progress of Ikeja. I do not take this for granted.
“Your support goes beyond politics – it is a testament to the power of collective ambition and the shared desire for a better Ikeja. You have shown that when the youth unite with purpose, great things happen. Today, you have not just endorsed a candidate; you have ignited a movement for transformative leadership.
“I am compelled to express my deepest gratitude to Comrade Omotayo Aderinola for your remarkable demonstration of comradeship, exemplary sportsmanship, and selfless devotion to our shared political ideals, as encapsulated in the party’s constitution and the Nigerian Constitution, by choosing to step down from the position for which I am also competing, and placing your trust in my ability to usher in renewed hope and sustainable development for the people of Ikeja local government.”
