The security architecture of the country will remain bedevilled with varying challenges until religious and community leaders are ready to partner with the government to confront them head-on, the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) has said.
The organisation made the statement against the backdrop of the recent attempted bombing of the Living Faith Church in Kaduna by a suspected terrorist and the argument that has trailed the development by both Christian and Muslim leaders.
NACOMYO, in a statement signed by its national president, Sani Suleiman Maigoro and national secretary general, Mas’ud Akintola, noted that engaging in blame game, name calling and responsibility shifting “will not take our troubles away but concerted effort will do.”
The organisation called on all Nigerians to embark on “sincere reconciliation with their Creator as failure to do so will make them live perpetually in fear.”
NACOMYO noted that “criminality knows no religion, ethnic or national boundary, therefore, approaches to security issues must be all-inclusive.”
