A leadership academy for both aspirants to and occupants of political offices has birthed in Lagos.
The academy, an initiative of Esther Banquet International and Excel Leadership Academy, aims at ensuring that political office holders in the nation gain a deeper understanding of how transformational leadership drives change.
Speaking at the unveiling of the Nation Builders Initiative held at Ikeja, Lagos, founder, Esther Banquet International, Mrs Anne-Wonder Fasan explained that the initiative is driven by the vision to empower marginalised citizens and groups entering into political offices.
In addition, she said the vision is to influence government and multiple stakeholders to achieve a cause that promotes good governance and a prosperous nation.
Speaking further at the launch, Fasan stressed that the initiative hinged on the imperativeness on good governance at grassroot, national and international levels in the country.
She noted that it was imperative to promote good governance in the country in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), hence the academy.
Under an 18 months mentoring programme, she said the participants will gain broader vision of their leadership goals, have strategic leadership direction.
She added that the participants will also be imbued with requisite leadership skills, effective administration and governance abilities, policy analysis skills, community engagement skills, political and government ethics.
Also, the intents, according to Fasan, are to foster social justice, democratic participation, peace building, anti-corruption ideals and promote the cases of marginalised and oppressed individuals in the society.
The founder emphasised that all efforts must be geared in the nation towards effective democracy monitoring systems, strong institutions, human capital and investment endowment sufficiency.
