IN the recent town hall meeting organised by the Oyo State government held in Oyo town and covering Oyo and Ogbomoso zones, Governor Abiola Ajimobi revealed some of the current projects of his administration. Some of the projects include the construction of 10,000 metric-tonne silos and the establishment of Radio Atiba FM, which will be fully digitalised. Governor Ajimobi mentioned his government’s readiness to partner with landowners to improve agricultural production in the state.
The government’s readiness to partner with landowners to boost agricultural production in the state is a welcome development because the initiative will benefit all and sundry. It will improve the Internally Generated Revenue of the state through the exportation of agricultural products like cotton, cassava and others. This will also benefit the masses as more jobs will be made available to the citizenry.
Also, the construction of 10,000 metric-tonne silos in the state will go a long way in improving its storage capacity and minimising wastage. It will also ensure the availability of agricultural products all year round. This will equally help the state to maintain its status as the Pacesetter State. I urge individuals, corporate and religious bodies, communities and every citizen to support the government’s programmes in the area of agriculture and willingly give out their unused, arable land to make the project a reality.
