The state’s Deputy Governor, Dr.Idiat Adebule, made the observation last Friday at the grand finale of this year’s edition of the current affairs quiz competition among students in the public primary and secondary schools in the state.
The annual competition and second in the series and held at Alausa Secretariat, saw the duo of Precious Amike and Jeremiah Marcus from Angus Memorial Senior High School, Somolu, with 39 points as the winner of the senior category, beating their mates, Seide Agosu and Emmanuel Olorunda from the Lagos State Senior Model College, Kankon with 31 points and those from the Unity Senior High School, Oshodi to the second and third positions, respectively.

Adebule, however, noted that history helps people to connect the past to the present and then project for the future.
She said that was why government is using the quiz competition to broaden the knowledge of students on the happenings in and outside their environment.
While congratulating the winners at the three levels and other participants, she implored all the students to remain focused and committed to their studies while shunning all form of vices including, thuggery, examination malpractice, rape, drug abuse, among others.
This is because, according to her, ‘indulging in vices will do you no good but harm.’
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs Adebunmi Adekanye, in her address of welcome, said, the competition had been really enhancing students’ performance not only in History, but also in sport, science and technology, politics and economy.
