Lagos State government said on Wednesday that with effect from November 1st, 2019, public servants in the state are to start enjoying the new minimum wage of N35,000, following approval by it of its implementation.
The Federal Government had fixed payment of N30,000 as new national minimum wage, with the state governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, promising to pay the state workers above the amount.

The information setting the implementation date on November 1st, 2019, was contained in a statement signed by the head of service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, and dated 27th, November 2019.
Muri-Okunola, in the statement, said that the approved minimum wage and consequential adjustments were more than the federal government’s approved recommendation.
The statement further explained that payment of salaries for the month of November was delayed in order to adequately process payment of the new wage.
Findings show that public servants on grade 7 will enjoy 30 per cent increase; level 8 to 10 will receive 25 per cent increase, 12 to 14 gets 22.5 per cent increase while level 15-17 will now enjoy 20 per cent increase.
The government urged public servants to show more commitment, dedication and selflessness in the delivery of qualitative service to the citizens of Lagos.
