The Kebbi State government is set to host the annual Yauri Emirate Regatta festival, which comes up from February 7th to 10th, 2024.
The State Commissioner of Information and Culture, Hon. Yakubu Ahmed Birnin-Kebbi, who disclosed this at a press conference with journalists in Birnin-Kebbi, also announced that the State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, has approved the holding of the annual Regatta Cultural Festival.
The Commissioner explained that submissions have been made for approval given time constraints, and the governor has directed the immediate release of funds to the Emirate to start earnest and necessary preparations.
He explained further that earlier, the Emir of Yauri, Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi, met the governor in the Council Chamber and requested assistance to hold the Regatta festival in Yauri, which the governor instantly accepted.
He also disclosed that the Emir of Yauri has requested a review of traditional rulers’ monthly allowances, which the governor has promised to look into.
This, according to the Emir, would enable them to perform their functions more effectively and diligently.
