Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Col. Samaila Yombe Dabai (rtd) has put his technological expertise to the fore burner as he single-handedly designed and fabricated armoured personnel carrier tank to be donated to the Nigeria Army to tackle the menace of armed bandits.
The laudable efforts of the Deputy Governor was aimed at providing appropriate transport to security operatives for combat operations in the bandits prone fringes of Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto and Katsina States.
While exchanging views with newsmen last weekend in Birnin-Kebbi the State Capital, Col. Yombe Dabai (rtd.) stated that the vehicles have been reinforced with hardened steels which is suitable for battle with provisions for a driver, a gunner and space for extra troops.
He explained that the action was approved and supported by Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu towards providing transportation for combatants as a major requirement in warfare to securing the lives and properties of citizens.
The Deputy Governor described Kebbi State as the pace seter in such inovative technology which served as cost effective measure and advancing Nigeria’s quest for technological know how.
It would be recalled that Toyota Land Cruiser Buffalo vehicles were remodeled into armoured personnel carriers with gun turrets by the technological ingenuity of retired Col. Yombe Dabai.
