Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) has dispatched sensitive election materials to the 34 local government areas of the state ahead of Monday’s local government elections in the state.
The commission’s chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Bako, while addressing newsmen at the dispatch centre, the Central Bank Office in Katsina, said the election materials including ballot papers, inks and result sheets will arrive in the local government areas on Sunday for onward distribution to the wards and polling units on Monday.
He disclosed that over nine thousand ad-hoc staff of the commission will conduct the elections for the over three million registered voters in the state.
The chairman said 12 political parties are participating in the election.
Meanwhile, Governor Aminu Bello Masari has declared Monday, April 11 a work-free day to enable civil servants to travel to their areas and cast their votes.
The directive was contained in a press statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Administration, Office of the Head Of Civil Service, Alhaji Usman Isyaku, and made available to newsmen in Katsina on Friday.
