The Independent National Electoral Commission’s office, (INEC) at Takai Local government area of Kano State has been set ablaze by suspected hoodlums.
According to information gathered on Sunday stated that the incident is came as a result of yesterday’s elections collated in different areas of the state.
However, in a swift reaction,, the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (ANPP) condemned the action while allegedly accusing the ruling APC of sponsoring the act.
The NNPP spokesman, Alhaji Sanusi Nature, while speaking on phone said “We wish to condemn in the strongest term, the APC’s unpatriotic act of arson, by setting ablaze the INEC office in Takai Local Government area of Kano State.
He added that ” The APC is all out to destroy collation processes and declaration of results after realizing the potentials of the NNPP at the polls yesterday”.
“This unpatriotic attack on the electoral umpire came at a time when collation was at 85 per cent completion today by 11.00am”.
“The security agencies shall as a matter of urgency swing into action to curtail the occurrences of such incidences in other locations”.
All efforts to get official reactions from the Public Relation Officer of INEC in Kano proved abortive as calls put across to him were not answered nor returned.
However,a source hinted that the allegation was baseless and lack any iota of true to support the insinuation
Our source added that the NNPP was use to unsubstantial allegations therefore this is to tell you that the APC was not involved in the crisis that led to the setting ablaze of the INEC
Furthermore, the Police Relationship Officer of the Kano State Police Command, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa couldn’t be reach for his reaction.
