The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Dr Mansur Mudi Nagoda, has expressed concern about some accounting staff, particularly revenue collectors, who have failed to remit cash on hand after sales to the banks.
He has pledged to recover all Drug Revolving Funds (DRF) from their respective facilities.
Dr Nagoda mentioned that he will refrain from naming individuals at this time to avoid any accusations of defamation of character. However, he is urging those implicated in the list to repay the funds within a month.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the board, Samira Suleiman, Dr Nagoda provided this assurance after conducting a thorough investigation into how the funds were diverted from the facilities’ accounts.
He went on to explain, “After analysing the Drug Revolving Fund programme at all our facilities, we discovered that some major challenges include non-payment in the internal market, individual debtors, defaulters, and non-compliance with guidelines.”
Dr Nagoda emphasised that if those involved do not comply within this grace period, HMB would have no choice but to forward the list to the wages and salary department for a 30% deduction from their salaries until all payments are deducted and remitted to the DRF account.
He also cautioned defaulters and debtors that such behaviour will no longer be tolerated as the board is working towards establishing a vibrant and robust DRF system.
