The Executive Secretary Kano State Hospitals Management Board Dr Mansur Nagoda has approved the sacking of three officers of General Hospital over an allegation of charging patients 12,000 for X-rays against the approved hospital price of 2,000
Also, the Executive Secretary approved the suspension of the accountant, auditor, and head of the lab for selling the free HIV test kits given to facilities by the state government and was asked to report to the board head quarters for further disciplinary actions.
The suspension and sacking of some staff of Kabo General Hospital with immediate effect after conducting an unscheduled executive supervision visit to the facility.
According to him, three officers of the X-ray units were caught charging 12,000 for X-rays against the approved hospital price of 2,000 and no documents to show as evidence of payment leaving the facility to carry out less than 10 X-rays per week despite the fact that the 2 X-ray batteries are functional.
He then approved the immediate dismissal of the 3 officers on grounds of excessive extortion of patients.
The facility which was visited by the Executive Secretary HMB, DG Kncdc Dr. Muhammad Abbas, and the DG of Saka Dr. Usman Bashir expressed their total dissatisfaction with what they met on ground and referred to it as an act of sabotage.
Furthermore, Dr Nagoda explained that the Labour ward was not in shape, had no bed sheets on the beds, no compound officer, dumped equipment that were donated by a member 4 years ago, as well as dumped COVID-19 items donated to the facility.

He lamented that no one would be spared if caught. “this act needs to stop. This decision we took should serve as a deterrent to others. We took an oath so we will stick to that oath and sanitise the health system.
Dr Nagoda added that it is sad after the Executive Governor Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf made sure he brought every health staff back on the confessed salary scale, they still resulted in exploiting innocent patients.
He then called on every officer to sit up and those who have skeletons in their cupboard should note that executive supervision is ongoing with full force,” once you are caught, have yourself to blame”.
