The Kaduna State police command has said three people were killed, while a police officer also lost his life when gunmen stormed a company along Mando area of Kaduna metropolis in the early hours of Wednesday.
Speaking with newsmen in Kaduna, the deputy commissioner of police in charge of finance and administration who spoke on behalf of the command, Mr Onah Sunny disclosed that, “today April 3, 2019, at about 05:40hrs when some armed men entered the Mother Cat Coy at Mando area shooting sporadically and attacking Policemen on guard duty.
“The gallant policemen engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel. They repelled the attack and in the process gunned down three of them.
“During the fierce gun duel, two of our men AP NO 161126 Insp Bijimi Maiyaki, F/No 251990 SGT Kabiru Shuaibu attached to Ops yaki sustained injuries and were rushed to 44 Army Reference Hospital for treatment.
“However, the NCO died while receiving treatment while the Inspector was treated and discharged.
“Exhibits recovered from the hoodlums included four AK 47 Rifles; Eight Magazines with one hundred and thirty (130) live Ammunition, five (5) pieces of suspected Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and a Golf Wagon vehicle with REG Number W 812 FST.
“Teams of Operatives are still on the trail of the remaining two hoodlums who escaped with bullet injuries. We will update you on later successes in due course.
“I want to appeal to members of the public to assist the police with prompt and relevant information on any suspicious movement in their respective neighbourhood so as to ensure effective proactive crime prevention efforts.
