Describing the gesture as not only commendable but historic, the party, in a press statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr Moses Kamanya, thanked President Buhari for honouring the soldiers of Nigeria’s democracy which previous governments could not do.
He also added that the President’s conferment on Chief Abiola’s running mate, Alhaji Babagana Kingibe, and the late human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, with the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON) were proofs that the President Buhari recognised the sacrifices of these leaders to the attainment of the present democratic experiment.
“The posthumous awards bestowed on Chief Abiola and others by the President has set the nation on the path of justice and truth because democracy has been given its right footing.
“The President’s declaration of June 12 as the new Democracy Day is a great moment for Nigeria; this decision has corrected the wrongs of the past.
“President Buhari has shown, once again by this proclamation, that he is a democrat and a believer in justice and truth and this will further bond us together as a nation and heal the wounds created as a result of that annulment,” Kamanya enthused.
He, therefore, appealed to all party faithful in Delta to remain united, noting that what the party needs to upstage the PDP is unity to enable it to fight from a common front, “to ensure that our destiny short changes and the anti-people government is removed.

The APC’s State Publicity Secretary, therefore, called on all Deltans from all walks of life, “to remain resolute in their determination to vote out the PDP government who is known for misappropriation of our commonwealth come 2019.”
He reiterated that Delta State remains “a low-hanging fruit for the APC, therefore, members should remain very united in their pursuit to change the PDP-led government come 2019.”
Kamanya asserted that the APC’s leaders across the three senatorial districts, particularly; Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Dr Ibe Kachukwu, Chief Great Ogboru, Senator Ovie Omo-Age, Chief Hyacinth Enuha, Chief Dr Cairo Ojougboh, Samuel Adjogbe, Rt Hon Victor Ochie, Professor Pat Utomi and others are working round the clock to reposition the party for victory come 2019.
