Isiwele, 6 others re-elected as RTEAN gets new executives

THE National Executive Council (NEC) of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) on Wednesday re-elected Alhaji Musa Isiwele as its Executive National President.

Six other national officers of the association were also re-elected unopposed at the RTEAN 11th National Delegates Conference held in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Alhaji Musa Mohammad, Mr Yusuf Adeniyi and Alhaji Ahmed Kuku were re-elected as Deputy National President, National Secretary General and Treasurer of the association respectively.

Mr Philip Nwaigbo, Mr Afam Anere and Mr Ibrahim Gargama were also respectively re-elected as Deputy National President, Operations, National Financial Secretary and Deputy President, Logistics and planning of the association.

NAN reports that a total of 35 elected officers that emerged at the meeting were sworn-in.

Mr Edi Nwabeze, the Chairman of National Electoral Committee said that leadership was all about releasing human possibilities and enabling others to break from limitation.

He said a new acceptable pattern of election by selection was deployed to encourage peace and stability noting that nomination of candidates was made at the states level.

“It should be recalled that sometimes in the history of the association, there used to be conflicts, particularly during an occasion like this, but presently such does not exist as there is stability.

“Unity and maturity in this association have brought greater understanding among members and this is as a result of the constitutionally acceptable pattern of election by selection which was adopted.

“Nominations of candidates were made by the state, which makes it possible for members in the executive structure to spread across the states of the federation.“

In his acceptance speech, Isiwele promised to work with the other executive members to take the association to a greater height.

He assured that the national secretariat complex of the association would be completed before their tenure is over.

He said that RTEAN was relating with other sister unions to ensure peaceful co-existence among members.

Isiwele said the peaceful electoral process in the association should be emulated by Nigeria at the 2019 general elections.
