Iperu honours indigenes over community development

The Iperu Community Development Association (ICDA) of Ogun State recently honoured the Accountant-General of the Federations, Mrs Oluwatoyin Madein, as well as three other indigenes of the town.

Others are permanent secretary, Ministry of Community and Cooperative, Ogun State, Alhaji Kolawole Ogunlana; Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District IV, Lagos State, Mr Olusegun Osinaike and the Permanent Secretary, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ogun State, Dr Rotimi Akinlesi.

The Alaperu of Iperu, Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu-Basibo, said they decided to honour indigenes of the community for their meritorious achievements and service to the nation.

He said the awardees had been doing well in their various fields of endevours, saying they need to celebrate them while alive as they deserve the award given to them.

The Alaperu said: “We have to encourage our people because when we were coming on board 20 years ago, I said we needed to move the town forward and contribute our impact to make sure our sons and daughters progress.

“This programme was organised to encourage them to be good ambassadors of Iperu and also do well for the community.

“I will just encourage our awardees to be good ambassadors of our town and not to forget their roots.

“Specifically, we want Mrs Madein to use her contacts to help our community and bring more industries, which I know will help our youths to be more engaged rather than focusing their attention on social vices.”

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Madein lauded the community for hosting them, while assuring that they would be good representatives of Iperu in their respective offices.

“I’m glad that my community decided to host us. I know there is still a lot to do to move Iperu forward, especially in terms of development. I’m ready to be part of any positive programme that can develop our women and youths in the community.

“By the grace of God, Nigerians should be expecting good things from my office and I assure them that the AGF of today will definitely ensure and follow the rules and regulations that will lead to accountability, transparency and zero tolerance for corruption,” Madein said.

Chairman of ICDA, Chief Babajide Oyeti, lauded all awardees for the commitment towards the development of the country and Iperu at large.
