NIGERIA has lost another great man, brilliant professor of literature and director of the African Study Centre at Carleton University, Otawa in Canada. For me, there is a season for every matter on this earth, a time to born and a time to die, a time to plant and time to pluck up what is planted; a time to weep and a time to laugh and mourn. Professor Pius Adesanmi, who was born 47 years ago in the small community of Isanlu in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, gave up the ghost on March 10, 2019 in the Ethiopian Airlines Plane crash. Every life of a man is a story; Prof. Pius Adesanmi was reasonably confident of using his pen to inform those in position of authority to do well. We will really miss him. It is a pity that death has stopped Professor Pius Adesanmi from writing on the back page of Sunday Tribune every week. Judging Professor Adesanmi by his past articles, I will give him 100 percent marks.
We all know that when Allah calls you, you have to answer his call gladly, I am writing this to beg Allah to please take extra care of the soul of Professor Adesanmi in heaven because he was very dear to Nigerians and to the management of Nigerian Tribune including his family members and the people of Kogi State.
We will miss Professor Pius Adesanmi and his professional competence in writing every Sunday. Our only consolation is the fact that he lived a good life. I want to urge the Federal Government and the State Government to immortalise the Late Professor Pius. The Almighty Allah will keep the family you left behind and grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. I pray that the family of Pius Adesanmi will never experience premature death again.
The question is this: who will step into Pius Adesanmi’s shoes on the back page of Sunday Tribune? I am well aware that everyone must die but not everyone lives on. Professor Pius Adesanmi lives on in our hearts.
