The new Area Commander for Warri Area Command, ACP Muhammed Garba, has warned personnel and officers under his command not to violate the fundamental human rights of Deltans while carrying out their jobs.
APC Garba gave the warning while addressing members of the Warri Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Tuesday in Warri, Delta State.
The police boss, who was on a familiarisation visit with his operation officer, Mr. Ebi Orubiri to the pen pushers at their secretariat in Warri, expressed deep aversion for human rights violations by men in uniforms.
He appealed to journalists in his command to report any infringement from divisional police officers under his Command before taking actions against them.
“I’m here to tell you that I’ve resumed. Whatever you observe, tell me. I want to succeed.

“I can’t succeed without you. Any problem from any DPO, let me know. We have to work together. If I’m going astray, tell me.
“I hate human rights violation. I’m a seasoned policeman. I’m an operational man,” he enthused.
APC Garba, however, read out a riot act, warning bearers of illegal arms and ammunition to submit them to the police.
The police boss, who’s a Fulani man, disclosed that he had warned his kinsmen that if he found any gun with them, he would kill them.
“I told my Hausa/Fulani when I met with them that ‘if I see any of them with a gun, I’ll kill him.
“They should submit their guns to the police. I’ve visited the Hausa community and warned them,” Garba, who was a DPO in Delta during the era of Governor James Ibori noted.
APC Garba was posted to Warri Area Command three weeks ago.
