Many parents do not know that they do have a lot of role to play on what their children would eventually become in the days to come. In this part of the world, we ignorantly leave everything to God. It is this warped mindset that has made us become so backward. Even things that are up to us to handle, we boorishly hand over to God to handle for us. Remember, God will cause your own ‘Moses’ to receive favor in the sight of people of high value, but the onus is on you to place him where they can see him. For the umpteenth time, it is the job of every parent to strategically position their children—where men and women of high value can see them.
One of the core principles I have practiced over the years is the one that has to do with being intentional and deliberate about what I consistently choose to see. You know why? It is because I would definitely give birth to and become what I consistently see. I have taught this life-changing principle to both—younger and older generations of Nigerians and Africans as a whole. And it has helped a whole lot of them a great deal.
To make this point clearer, consider a situation in which you and your friend are sitting on a park bench. Across the street a woman is walking her beagle. Your friend, the manager of apparel store, hones in what the woman is wearing, scrutinizing her outfit. Deciding that she does not like what the woman is wearing, your friend feels mildly annoyed. As an animal lover, you barely notice the woman but instead focus on her dog, which reminds of a puppy you had as a child, and as a result, you feel a little wistful. What is the reality? It is clearly different for both of you as a result of your selective acts of attention and interpretation. Buddy, to help shape the future of those coming behind you, help them see what aligns with what they are loaded with on the inside of them. Remember, they will always give birth to and become what they consistently look at. This is a very powerful and life-changing principle.
In Numbers 13:28-33, we read an interesting story of the 12 spies sent by Moses to spy on the land of Canaan—whether the people that lived there were strong or weak and whether the land was flowing with milk and honey or not. They came back with the fruit of the land and announced that indeed the land was flowing with milk and honey. However, 10 of the 12 spies had seen things differently. They said yes the land was flowing in milk and honey, but “there we saw giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants, and we were in their sight.” Before they even attempted to take over the land, they already saw themselves as failures. They saw themselves as grasshoppers; that is a strong word to describe oneself. If you read carefully, it was not the Canaanites that saw them as grasshoppers; it was the Israelites that said they were like grasshoppers in their own sight. This is how powerful what we see is. What you see impacts either positively or negatively on your life, ministry and career.
What those 10 folks saw determined what they said. They became inferior to their contender and competitor as an effect of what they were seeing. To help them stop living a life of failure, you would have to creatively paint a picture of their future before them, so they can start seeing it daily. When what they see changes, what they say will equally change. Remember, until they change what they say, their reality would not change.
If you have anyone in either your family or within your sphere of influence—who is not doing fine in life, kindly help paint a picture that resonates with what he or she is loaded with on the inside (as the man who bought a desktop computer for his two sons) and encourage him or her to start looking at it every day. With time, his or her life will begin to respond to what he or she is seeing on the outside.
Once again, you’d give birth to and eventually become what you see. In Genesis 30:39, Jacob also used this awesome life technology. The cattle gave birth to what they were seeing! This is to further establish the fact that people will always give birth to and become what they are consistently seeing. If a boy can be helped to see himself as a lawyer in the days to come, nothing and no one will be able to stop him from becoming what he consistently sees. I do have a little boy—who consistently sees himself as an engineer. In the just concluded UTME, he scored 297—without being aided by anyone! He wakes up every night to study and still goes to school every day. You know why? It is because he is being daily driven by what he is seeing.
It is a new day for the continent of Africa, on the condition that we all can put this powerful principle into action.
See you where great leaders are found!
