Praise be to God, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment.
Almighty Allah declares in Qur’an 3:2-7 thus, “Allah! there is no god but He the Living the Self-Subsisting Eternal. It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step) in truth the Book confirming what went before it; and He sent down Law (Of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this as a guide to mankind and He sent down the Criterion (of judgment between right and wrong). Then those who reject Faith in the Signs of God will suffer the severest penalty and God is Exalted in Might Lord of Retribution. From God verily nothing is hidden on earth or in the heavens. He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He pleases. There is no god but He the Exalted in Might the Wise. He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: in it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part there of that is allegorical seeking discord and searching for its hidden meanings but no one knows its hidden meanings except God and those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: “We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord”; and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding.
In fact, God throws a challenge to Jinn and men to produce the like of Holy Qur’an or review it. He declares that they won’t be able to do so. God declares in Qur’an 17:88: “If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur-ān, they Could not produce the like thereof, even if They backed up each other With help and support”. God challenges mankind further in Qur’an 11:13, “Or do they say that he has invented it? Say (to them), ‘Bring ten invented chapters like it, and call (for help) on whomever you can besides God, if you are truthful.”
Even if the disbelievers in the Message of the Holy Qur’an cannot produce 10 chapters like the Glorious Qur’an, God challenges them to produce at least one chapter like it too. “And if you all are in doubt about what I have revealed to My servant, bring a single chapter like it, and call your witnesses besides God if you are truthful.” (Quran 2:23).
This challenge thrown at intellectuals globally till eternity, over the scrutiny of the Holy Qur’an subsists, including the over 100 million libraries globally, with their over one million eBooks and audiobooks from their digital collections in the USA, Canada, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand (company.overdrive.com, 2021). The originality of Holy Qur’an inspired the early Muslims made various inventions in science and technology as the theories for the inventions are contained in the seal of Scriptures. Such include discoveries in prevailing amnesia, hygiene, wheal and water pump, food antiquate, education, hospitals, pharmacology, medicine, modern sciences, civil engineering, chemistry, astronomy, astrology, optics, engineering, aviation, algebra, sociology, geometry, mathematics, and among others. With the Golden Era of Islamic civilisations spanning the 7th to 15th centuries, the Islamic inventions ruled the world till early 20th century (Islamicity.org, 2021).
Indeed, the Holy Qur’an is not a book of science, but gives classical scientific theories on Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, digital media, drones, robotics, and others. Qur’an is not a book of poem, but poetic in lyrics and rendition. The Qur’an is not a book of prose but presented in the unsurpassed style, text, and language. It is not a Book of history, but gives facts and figures on the annals of past generations and the creation of the world. The Qur’an is not a book of stories, but it is the only comprehensive Book for all ages till eternity, that covers all issues whether big or small in our estimation. The Qur’an is not a book of arts, but gives classical insights into the world of artistic impressions about nature in the skies, on earth, and pictures about the Paradise and the Hell Fire. The Holy Qur’an is not a book of memorization, but it is the only Holy Book that can be memorised completely, and rendered in the beautiful Arabic language by the Hafiz (Memorisers of the Criterion). The Qur’an is not a Book of magic but The Book (Al-Kitab) is the miracle for all ages that solves physical, spiritual, and psychological problems of humanity. The Qur’an is not a Book of political science but the Book of Revelation (At-Tanzil), is the best Encyclopaedia on public affairs for humanity. The Qur’an is not a Book of economics, but gives guidance on the best economic theories and practices for humanity. The Qur’an is not a book of socials but gives guidance on the best practices in sociology. Qur’an is not a Book of culture, but gives best blueprint on culture and tradition. The Qur’an is not a Book of Law, but remains the best constitution and Book of Justice for mankind till eternity.
Apart from separating truth from falsehood, the Holy Qur’an has been revealed as Mercy and Healing to solve all ailments physically and spiritually for the believers.
Qur’an 17: 80-81 says, “And say: ‘Truth has (now) arrived, and falsehood perished: For Falsehood is (by its nature) vound to perish. We send down (stage by stage) In the Qur-an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe: To the unjust it causes nothing but loss after loss’.”
Thus, the month of Ramadan is the month of the Holy Qur’an when we read and studied it more to savour the benefits of the period of fasting and blessings of God (Q. 2:121; 75:16-18). Ramadan is the month of Holy Qur’an when we recite the complete Qur’an in Tarawih and Qiyamu Layl prayers; when we recite it completely personally; when we attend the interpretations of the Qur’an (Tafsir); when we listen to lectures; and when we study it endlessly.
But we must be clean and pure, whenever we want to touch the Honoured Book of Allah, as women in their period or newly delivered mothers are restricted from touching the Holy Quran; except those who are pure after spiritual baths of Haila (After menstruation) and after Nifas (spiritual bath after 40 days of child birth), and those in ablution (Wudu’). God declares in Qur’an 56:77-88, “That this is indeed A Qur-ān most Honourable, in a Book well-guarded, which none shall touch but those who are clean: A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. Is it such a Message that ye would hold in light esteem? And have ye made it Your livelihood that ye Should declare it false? Then why do ye not (Intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) Reaches the throat, — And ye the while (Sit) looking on, — But We are nearer To him than ye, And yet see not, — Then why do you not, — If you are exempt From (future) account, — Call back the soul, If ye are true (In your claim of Independence)? Thus, then, if he Be of those Nearest to God”.
Upon all, the Holy Qur’an is the Book of Power that is unprecedented and incomparable. God Almighty affirms in Qur’an 59:21- 24: “Had We sent down this Qur-an on a mountain, verily, thou would have seen It humble itself and cleave asunder for fear of God. Such are the similitudes Which We propound to men, that they may reflect. God is He, than Whom There is no other god; — Who knows (all things) Both secret and open; He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. God is He, than Whom There is no other god; — The Sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of Peace (and Perfection), The Guardian of Faith, The Preserver of Safety, The Exalted in Might, The Irresistible, the Supreme: Glory to God! (High is He) Above the partners They attribute to Him. He is God, the Creator, The Evolver, The Bestower of Forms (Or Colours). To Him belong the most beautiful names: Whatever is in The heavens and on earth, Doth declare His Praises and Glory: And He is the Exalted In Might, the Wise”.
May Almighty Allah accept our fasting, our prayers, and our recitations of the Glorious Qur’an in the month of Ramadan and beyond. Ameen.
