Bola Tinubu Support Organisation (BTSO UK), earlier today, drummed support for the re-election bid of the incumbent governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Honourable Desmond Elliot representing Surulere 1 constituency at the Lagos State Assembly.
The BTSO U.K hosted a rally for the re-election bid of Mr Sanwo-Olu and Honourable Elliot at the Abebe Field, Akerele Extension, Surulere, Lagos. The Political Support UK led by Mr Ade Adeshina noted that the group had been at the forefront of the progressive movement in Nigeria adding that the country needed the right people at the political offices.
Adesina said that the group had embarked on many political programmes and had blazed the trail by keying into many democratic and leadership ideals to raise people both in Nigeria and in the diaspora.
Speaking also, Segun Iroko, the Deputy Director General, in his speech, pointed out that both principals, Governor Sanwo-Olu and Honourable Elliot had performed creditably well to stand another chance for a second term.
“We have seen the performance of Governor Sanwo-Olu and Honourable Elliot, both men have served Lagos State creditably well and we cannot shy away from the truth. Governor Sanwo-Olu has been following the footsteps of Asiwaju Tinubu and has not deviated from the blueprint of development of Lagos State, so, they deserve another term to complete what they have started. Lagos state is known for the progressive movement and we don’t want to move away from that, we have a government that we have tested and convinced with that they can do the job.”
Iroko added that the group had a mission and a vision for Bola Tinubu to be the president which it had achieved.
On the other hand, Chairman Boluwatife LCDA, Mr Awilla Banego, urged eligible voters to come out en masse to vote for the incumbent party.
“We have benefited a lot from the APC government and we need to show our support this time around. The party should be given a chance to complete its good developmental programmes. The turnout of the presidential election was not encouraging, in 2019 6.2 million people registered, but less than 900,000 voted. Now in 2023, we have 7 million voters, but only 1.2 million people voted. It is the same thing happening over the years. What is the problem? The citizens have left voting for the politicians alone. Now, for the gubernatorial election, we are going from house to house.”
Speaking during an interview, Mrs Adebanke Afinnih Southwest Coordinator, BTSO UK announced that the re-election of Sanwo-Olu and Hon Elliot would bring more dividends of democracy to the people.
“We have seen how these men have performed, so if we want more, they should continue to be in charge, we cannot afford to have another party rule Lagos State.”
Mrs Yetunde Shodipo urged Surulere residents to key behind Honourable Elliot because of his immense contributions to his constituency.
