“For me, without giving anything away, I guess, I was satisfied with how unpredictable the show’s ending really is.” She noted that the grand finale will upend the complex theories that people have conjectured.
“People have come up with so many fan theories about how it’s going to end, and who will end up where, and who will end up with who. It really is so unpredictable the way that it ends up. I’m very satisfied with that, and I think that the fans will be satisfied with that, too.
“They’re still doing justice to the story, and serving the characters in the way they feel like they should be. I mean, they definitely upped the ante [in the final episodes]. They’ve got nice, big battle scenes, that’s for sure.”
Eagerness has led fans to read clues into developments as minute as the recently etched tattoo on Turner’s body. “That would be terrible, if I got the ending tattooed on my body, just before the last season came out,” she teased. “That would be so stupid.”
The filming of the final season has reportedly ended and the media has been trying to glean the tiniest of hints from the cast to abate curiosity. Last Saturday, two weeks after Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) posted a similar goodbye, Maisie Williams (playing Arya) said her goodbye to the HBO series. “Goodbye Belfast. Goodbye Arya. Goodbye Game of Thrones. What a joy I’ve had. Here’s to the adventures to come,” the 21-year old wrote in her Instagram post. Games of Thrones’ final season is expected to debut its first episodes in 2019.
Comments by members of the cast are boosting the impatience and hype around the final season. We are told to expect more bloodshed than in all previous seasons. Could their hints turn out to be tricks to lead fans’ attention off the track of truth? The answer is months away.
